Two Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
